This is iQ - Toyota's official UK blog for the newly-launched iQ city car have embarked on a hypermiling road trip to see if they can beat the car's official 65.7mpg. En route, and on a single tank of fuel, they’ll attempt to take in up to 18 cities. They'll be using some Hypermiling techniques but with the priority being on safety. UPDATE 1:  Its not looking too good for the IQ boys as the second to last segment on the fuel gauge just disappeared. "Our chances of making 500 miles are starting to look slim"

UPDATE 2:  THEY DID IT!! They managed  504.2 miles on the iQ's tiny tank. That works out at a mammoth 72mpg!! Check out their blog for a full run down on the event and how they progressed. With the huge amount of press coverage the event received - it did a lot for Toyota's new supermini and also helped raise the profile of Hypermiling in the UK.
